Hi, I'm Carla.
For forty years, I became fluent in everyone else while remaining almost completely unfamiliar with myself. Now I'm learning who God created me to be—and helping others do the same.
My Story
I grew up in a loving Christian home, and for that, I will always be grateful. I have incredible parents, an amazing husband, and two boys who have shaped my life more than they'll ever know. I spent ten years in education professions before God called me to leave the classroom and homeschool my oldest son. From the outside, my life looked pretty ordinary. But like many people, there was a story quietly unfolding beneath the surface.
For most of my life, I loved people deeply. I wanted to encourage them, help them, and make them feel seen. Somewhere along the way, though, I confused being needed with being loved. I became so focused on everyone else that I slowly lost sight of who God had created me to be.
One day, I did something I had never really done before.
I started writing. Not because I wanted to become an author.
Not because I thought anyone would ever read it. I simply needed somewhere to put the thoughts, questions, hurts, and lessons that had been filling my heart for years.
One page became several. Several pages became dozens. Eventually, those pages began to form chapters. Before I knew it, I wasn't just journaling anymore...I was writing a book.
The truth is, I never set out to become a successful author. If this book never sells thousands of copies, that's okay. I didn't write it to build a platform. I'm writing this first as an act of obedience, and second in the hope that someone else finds a little of their own story in mine. I can't rewrite the first forty years of my life. But I can choose who I'm becoming. I can choose to become the woman God created me to be instead of the woman I thought everyone else needed me to be.
My testimony probably isn't one that will win an award or make headlines. There are no dramatic rescues or unbelievable plot twists. It's simply the story of a woman learning that God's faithfulness is often found in the ordinary moments—the quiet ones that nobody else sees.
If these words help one mother who feels like she's failing...One woman who quietly struggles with rejection...One person who has spent years believing they have to earn love...then every page was worth writing.
This isn't a place where you'll find someone who has life all figured out. It's a place where you'll find someone who is still learning, still growing, and still discovering that God's grace has been enough every step of the way.
I'm so glad you're here. Welcome to my story.
"If one story helps someone feel less alone, then sharing it is worth it."
Why I Write
This corner of the internet isn’t about perfection or having all the answers. It’s about sharing the lessons God continues to teach me through the messy, beautiful reality of everyday life.
